All though my first review won't be as detailed as ninjatimant's, I'd like to try.
Rad Racer I
Rad Racer is like the name says a racing game. You control a car through 8 stages in order to win the game and see the ending. There is even a 3D effect on this game. Press select to enable the 3D. This brought a new element into gaming for the nes.
The 8 stages are Sunest Coastline, San Franscico Highway, Grand Canyon, Ruins of Athens, Los Angeles Nightway, Snow White Line, Seaway in Typhoon, and Last Seaside Running. Each of these stages brings a new element into play. I wonder how the car makes it across a big ocean after stage three to try stage four. I guess they left that out.
Anyway I've only been able to make it to stage three, but with a stage select code built in I can take a peak at other levels without having to result to "other" forms of cheating.
Graphics are good, In part of stage 1, stage 2, and stage 5 you drive at night. In stage 4, you can see parts of Greece. The music kinda gets tiresome. Only 2 themes to choose from and both aren't that great.
It takes about ten seconds to get up to top speed which is 255 kilometers per hour. When you run out of gas (time) the car keeps going and gradually comes to a stop. This helps getting to goals within the stage. However, since it takes a good while to get up to top speed, if you get into a wreck with low time, your game is pretty well over. Wrecks can take about five seconds to get going again. This makes your job pretty much flawless when you get to later levels, and one or two mistakes in early levels. Running into cars on the road will just slow you down in early levels, but in later levels will crash you too.
graphics: B+
sound: D+
story: N/A
challenge: A
control: B+
fun: B-
overall: B
Can someone proof this
