A friend of mine brought his Wii over a few weeks ago and after setting everything up we noticed the Wii-motes were very touchy. Well, we figured it out. It was because the light from the outside was interfering with the infrared path back to the receivers.
So, just a tip of caution if you haven't already figured it out that the sensorson the Wii-mote are sensitive and can be affected adversely with interfering light.

If you set candles under your TV, you dont have to hook up the Wiis sensor bar. Thought that was a little nifty. Not only can you throw the wiimote threw the TV but you can burn down your house.

Neither do I, but I dont think I should try it, seeing as how my basement has alot of valuable stuff. And wood. Lots and lots of wood.

Holy cow! I had it working! Incredible! The trick is to place 2 candles DIRECTLY under the television and disconnect your sensor bar. That's freakin crazy!! YES!!! (Good thing my house isn't made of wood. )

I am still confused as to how this works without the sensor bar being connected. What receives the signals from the Wii remote if it is disconnected?
