Clash at Demonhead combines solid shoot-and-jump gameplay with a non-linear route map. You must explore the routes, trying to find medallions. I've only played it once so far, but I'm intrigued. One of the best features of the game is the shop. After collecting gold from defeated enemies, you can call the shop to buy items or weapon upgrades. Faced with an impassible lake? Buy an Aqualung to cross it. The only knock on the game that I've noticed is that the power meter leaves something to be desired, as you're never really sure how many more hits you can take.

Clash at Demonhead kind of reminds me of a mix between Kid Icarus and Mega Man. This is a fairly difficult game because you only get one man and like Ninjatiamat said...it's hard to trust the power meter. I've only played this game a little bit, but it seems pretty good so I can see why it was relatively popular when it was released in 1990.
