Grimm Penguin, first of all there are no stupid questions here so don't worry about that. To answer your question the 64 stands for the type of processor the Nintendo 64 sports. It has a 64-bit processor. So you were pretty much right on the nose

nes 8 bit, snes 16 bit, GBA 32 bit, N64 64 bit, GC 128 bit, the wii is probably around 256 bits
